Sit, tilt your head back, gaze between your eyebrows, and breathe continuously in ujjayi.

Steps

Support

Sit bones and outer foot edges; hands pressing both knees.

Enter

  1. Close your eyes and relax your body.
  2. Place your tongue in khecarī and begin ujjayi.
  3. Open your eyes; direct your gaze upward and inward.
  4. Tilt your head back about 45°; straighten your elbows.

Hold

  1. Press your knees with your hands.
  2. Keep your torso upright.

Exit

  1. Bend your elbows; release your tongue and gaze.
  2. Return your head to an upright position.
  3. Resume normal breathing.
Breathing
Slow, deep ujjayi, without breath retention in this version.
Gaze
Eyes open, upward and inward, between your eyebrows: śāmbhavī.
Duration
As long as comfortable; increase the duration very slowly.
Rounds
Start with one round; gradually increase to five.
