Balance on a bent leg with your opposite ankle resting on its thigh.

Steps

Support

One sole; the opposite ankle rests on your standing thigh.

Enter

  1. From Mountain Pose, shift your weight onto your left foot.
  2. Bend your right knee and turn your right thigh outward.
  3. Place your right ankle on your left thigh, above the knee.
  4. Flex your right foot; bring your palms together at your chest.
  5. Exhale, send your hips back, and bend your left knee.

Hold

  1. Ground your heel and bases of your big and little toes.
  2. Keep your standing knee pointing toward the center of your foot.
  3. Keep your crossed foot flexed and your bent knee pointing outward.
  4. Hinge forward from your hips, keeping your back long.

Exit

  1. Inhale, raise your hips, and straighten your standing leg.
  2. Uncross your leg and lower your foot to the floor.
  3. Return to Mountain Pose and repeat on the other side.
Breathing
Exhale as your hips lower; breathe slowly and deeply.
Gaze
Softly toward the floor ahead.
Duration
2–3 breaths per side.
