Balance on one foot, holding the other behind you and extending your free arm.

Steps

Support

The sole of the standing foot.

Enter

  1. From Mountain Pose, shift your weight onto your left foot.
  2. Bend your right knee, bringing your heel toward your buttock.
  3. Hold the inside of your right foot with your right hand.
  4. Press your foot back and up against your hand.
  5. Extend your left arm forward; gently lean your torso forward.

Hold

  1. Press your foot against your hand; reach your thigh back.
  2. Face your pelvis and chest forward; draw your lifted knee inward.
  3. Lift your breastbone and lengthen your free arm.
  4. Keep your standing knee extended without bowing it backward.

Exit

  1. Lower your free arm and lifted leg; bring your knees together.
  2. Release your foot, set it down, and lower your holding arm.
  3. Return to Mountain Pose and repeat on the other side.
Breathing
Breathe normally.
Gaze
Gaze at a fixed point ahead at eye level.
Duration
5–10 breaths per side.

  • One elbow overhead, holding the big toe.
  • Both hands holding the foot, elbows overhead.
