Steps

Support

Both palms and one sole; the head remains off the floor.

Enter

  1. Lie on your back; bend your knees, feet hip-width apart.
  2. Place your hands beside your ears, fingers pointing toward your shoulders.
  3. Inhale, press through hands and feet; lift hips and straighten arms.
  4. Center your supporting foot; draw the other knee toward your chest.
  5. Straighten that leg toward the ceiling, reaching through your toes.

Hold

  1. Ground your supporting sole, especially the heel and big toe.
  2. Keep your pelvis lifted without twisting as you raise your leg.
  3. Keep your arms straight and your head suspended between them.
  4. Distribute the arch through hips and spine, lifting your chest.

Exit

  1. Lower your lifted foot; stabilize before repeating on the other side.
  2. Exhale, tuck your chin, and lower your shoulders and back.
  3. Lower your pelvis and rest on your back.
Breathing
Breathe quietly without forcing deep inhalations.
Gaze
Look at a fixed point on the floor.
Duration
Up to 5 breaths per side.

  • Blocks in basic WheelKeep both feet grounded; place blocks under your hands against a wall.

Variations

  • Raised-leg variation: lift one leg to 45°, keeping both hands grounded.
  • Place your hand on your thigh on the side of your lifted leg; use two supports (plates 501–502).

  • Weight on extended wrists.

  • Head below your chest, without support.
