Steps

Support

Pelvis and legs; a small cushion under the perineum.

Enter

  1. Rest your hands on your knees and close your eyes.
  2. Relax your body; raise your hands, pointing your elbows outward.
  3. Place your fingers on your face as indicated.

Hold

  1. Keep your head level and your spine's natural curves.
  2. Use light contact around your eyes.
  3. Coordinate nasal closure with your breath hold.

Exit

  1. Release your nostrils and finish exhaling.
  2. Lower your hands to your knees; keep your eyes closed.
  3. Return your attention to your body and external sounds.

One round

  1. Open your nostrils and inhale slowly and deeply.
  2. Close them with your middle fingers; hold while comfortable.
  3. Open them and exhale slowly.
Breathing
Breathe through your nose; close your nostrils only during retention.
Gaze
Eyes closed.

Five minutes initially; each breath hold lasts while comfortable.
